Summer is approaching and it will soon be seriously hot in Cairo. The balmy Saturday of 20 May 2023 was a perfect day to enjoy spring at the Maq‘ad of Sultan Qaitbey cultural hub (MASQ) that is run by ARCHiNOS and the Sultan Foundation. The “Enchanted Gardens” events packed together many attractions on a single day: a walking tour through the “Desert of the Mamluks”, a flower market, a spring bazaar, classes in ikebana flower arrangements and in home gardening, an oud recital, opening of an art exhibition and the announcement of the winners in the #Visit Qaitbey photo and video contest and the exhibition of the finalists’ works. The public flocked to the square surrounded by masterpieces of Mediaeval architecture and shaded by blossoming trees.
