In the spirit of communality, sharing and joy that pervades the Muslim holy month, our Ramadan event on 13 March this year was the biggest ever. It started with a huge iftar meal for ARCHiNOS friends and collaborators who filled the huge reception hall of Sultan Qaitbey. Then followed a guided visit to an art exhibition on the theme of Historic Cairo, a crafts fair filled with handcrafted work of Cairene artisans, a Mawlawiyya performance of whirling dervishes by a female team boldly venturing into the form of expression traditionally reserved to men, and a performance of Sufi chants by a renowned artist Shaykh Zain Mahmud. The huge crowd filled the square framed with gracious mediaeval buildings late into the night.
We wish Ramadan Karim to all our friends and followers.
