The renowned scholars of Islamic art Laila Blair and Jonathan Bloom wrote in their magisterial The Art and Architecture of Islam 1250 – 1800 (Yale University Press) that the dome over sultan Qaitbey’s tomb in Cairo “is the masterpiece of carved masonry domes”, praising its “intricacy of design, refinement of execution, and elegance”. The conservation of the masterpiece by ARCHiNOS has begun. We are proud to uphold the legacy of the illustrious sultan.
