Monumental sculpture mounted next to the Maq‘ad of Qaitbey
30 May 2021
In May/June 2021, the young Egyptian artist Dina Faez, who was selected following an open call for proposals, produced a monumental piece of stone sculpture continuing the line of sculptural works in the neighbourhood that reflect on the Thin Line Between Life and Death. Working in the midst of a traditional neighbourhood, the young sculptor quickly developed an excellent report with the local inhabitants. The work has been mounted in the square in front of the maq‘ad of Sultan Qaibey, next to the mediaeval gate to the complex that was restored by the project.
Social and cultural activities at the MASQ are carried out by ARCHiNOS and its sister not-for profit organisation the Sultan Foundation and are financed primarily by the Drosos Foundation and the European Union.
